ourselves and lose ourselves
at the same time."

Susan Petr Goren has more than 25 years of professional art experience and built a career as a gallerist and private art consultant.  Formerly President and CEO of Atlas Galleries, Inc. in Chicago, as well as Director of Auctions for Gallerie Michael, in Beverly Hills, CA, Ms. Goren possesses a unique appreciation for the business of art as well as a sophisticated working knowledge of the art industry as a whole.

After majoring in Art History at Emory University and completing an internship with the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Ms. Goren worked in business development, financial services and client services with the Painting Department of the largest West Coast auction house, Butterfield & Butterfield (now Bohnams & Bohnams), in Los Angeles.  There, she gained intimate familiarity with the complex world of auctions:  negotiating contracts; registration approval; establishing condition reports for artwork; conferring with specialists on issues such as authenticity, and bidding on behalf of clients. Subsequently, she was asked to join the esteemed Gallerie Michael on Rodeo Drive as their Director of Auctions to organize events which included researching and selecting artwork, negotiating contracts and executing auctions with various organizations.

Upon completing her Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Ms. Goren returned to Chicago to join Atlas Galleries, Inc., a privately held art corporation consisting of three art galleries and a wholesale art division with approximately 35 employees.  During the next 14 years as Vice President, then President and CEO, Ms. Goren furthered the careers of living, internationally renowned artists, selected new gallery artists, purchased substantial collections of old master prints and paintings, verified authenticity, determined restoration needs, and was responsible for overseeing the marketing, sales, operations and finances for the company.

Since 2009, Ms. Goren has acted as a trusted advisor to individuals and corporations, focusing on fine art acquisitions and valuations, and the management and de-accession of collections.  She enjoys working with both new and experienced collectors, and takes great satisfaction in helping them develop and refine their art collections.
